Lisa Peacock has been featured in several publications for her professional work in animal assisted interventions. She believes that alternative therapies are the only way to build trust and rapport with the younger generations. “They do not respond to communication the same way that older generations do,” she says, “so we must interact with them in ways that elicit understanding and comfort based on their limited communication skills.” To do this, Ms. Peacock incorporates animals, art, music, and literature to provide outlets for discovery and catharsis. Her clients range in age from 3-30; however, when working with children the whole family is included in the therapeutic process. Ms. Peacock has 15 years of experience working with animals in professional settings, and 20 years of experience working with children. Ms. Peacock currently resides in Portland, OR. She consults with clients across the nation.
